The egg timer app that gets your egg exactly right
Pick how you like your egg, tell Egg Timer what you're cooking with, and start. The app knows the right time for soft, medium, hard and extra-hard eggs — and when it's done, it rings like an alarm clock, even if your iPhone is on silent.

Everything between raw and rubbery
Four doneness levels, three appliances, one big start button — and an alarm you cannot miss.
Four doneness levels
Soft with a runny, creamy yolk. Medium with a firm white and creamy centre. Hard and sliceable. Or extra hard, fully cooked through. The egg on screen even changes with your choice — from glossy orange to a pale, firm yolk.

Rings like an alarm clock
No quietly missed notification: Egg Timer uses the same kind of alarm as the iOS system timer — loud, on the Lock Screen, and even when your phone is muted. One tap stops it.
Stove, induction & egg cooker
Twelve built-in cook times cover every combination: rolling-boil starts on the stove or induction hob, and full cold-start times for an egg cooker, heat-up included.
Your times, your eggs
Like your soft egg 15 seconds longer? Adjust every time in 15-second steps, from 2 to 30 minutes, per doneness and per appliance. Your changes are saved on your device.
Live Activity & Dynamic Island
The countdown lives on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island while you set the table. Pause and resume right from there — no need to reopen the app.
iPhone, iPad & Apple Watch
One purchase covers all three. The Watch app sets the same doneness levels and appliances and shows the progress ring on your wrist, so you can start an egg from the kitchen and get tapped wherever you are.
Speaks 12 languages
English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Polish, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian and Finnish — switchable in the app, independent of your system language.

The right time for every combination
These are the twelve cook times built into Egg Timer — for a medium (size M) egg straight from the fridge. Every single one can be fine-tuned in 15-second steps.
| Doneness | Stove | Induction | Egg cooker |
|---|---|---|---|
| Soft | 5:00 | 4:30 | 8:00 |
| Medium | 7:00 | 6:30 | 10:00 |
| Hard | 10:00 | 9:30 | 12:00 |
| Extra hard | 13:00 | 12:30 | 14:30 |
Stove and induction: lower the egg into water at a rolling boil, then start. Egg cooker: total time from switching on, heat-up included.
No ads. No tracking. No nonsense.
There is no account to create and nothing to sync. Your doneness choice, appliance and custom times are stored only on your device, and the timer works fully offline. The only connection the app ever makes is Apple's purchase system when you buy or restore the optional Pro upgrade.
Frequently asked questions
Is the egg timer app free?
Yes. The timer itself — all four doneness levels, all three appliances, the alarm, the Live Activity and the Apple Watch app — is free, with no ads. A one-time Pro purchase (no subscription) unlocks custom cook times so you can fine-tune every time in 15-second steps.
Does the alarm really ring on silent?
Yes. Egg Timer schedules a real alarm through the same iOS mechanism as the system timer, so it rings loudly on the Lock Screen even when your iPhone is muted. You can switch this off in the settings and get a normal notification instead.
How long should I boil my egg?
For a medium (size M) egg straight from the fridge, lowered into boiling water: about 5 minutes for soft, 7 for medium, 10 for hard and 13 for extra hard. Induction is about 30 seconds quicker; an egg cooker needs longer because the time includes heat-up. The app has all twelve times built in.
Does it work with the screen locked or the app closed?
Yes. The countdown is based on the actual clock time, not on the app running, and the alarm is delivered by iOS itself. You can lock your phone or switch apps — the Live Activity keeps showing the remaining time on the Lock Screen.
Can I change the cook times?
Yes. With the one-time Pro upgrade you can adjust every one of the twelve times in 15-second steps, from 2 to 30 minutes, separately for each doneness level and appliance — for example if you prefer size L eggs or live at altitude.
